The most exciting summer programme in the UK!

55 Years of unforgettable summers

Welcome to Hurtwood House Summer School – the most exciting English Language Summer Course in the UK.

Hurtwood House Summer School was founded in 1970 by my grandparents on their beautiful estate in the Surrey Hills, just one hour from London. Their idea was simple: create an environment where people from all over the world could come to the UK, learn English and form lifelong friendships, all whilst having the holiday of a lifetime.

For over 50 years, the summer school has been run by the Jackson family and family values remain at the heart of everything we do. Student numbers are limited to ensure that each student receives the exclusive and personal Hurtwood experience.

Whilst we continue to uphold the traditional spirit that has made Hurtwood’s Summer School so successful for generations of English language students, we are always looking to push boundaries with innovative lessons and activities. Quite simply, there’s no better way for a student to spend a summer.

On this website, you’ll find more about our English lessons, the glamorous excursions we offer and the vibrant in-house activities that make each day so memorable. If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

English Language Tuition

Our language summer school has been running for over 50 years and has helped generations of students gain competency and confidence in their English Language capabilities. The course builds on our reputation as one of the UK's leading schools and our study programme is carefully designed to support every learning style.

A glamorous and wide ranging activities programme

Hurtwood's summer school is famous for our activities programme and it is one of the main reasons that students return to us year after year. If you tried to design the perfect summer school activities programme, it would look like the one we have here at Hurtwood.
