Hurtwood House Summer School

The children LISTEN to English on the radio and TV, in the street and at the cinema. They SPEAK it in shops, on outings and in the dining room. They READ it in newspapers, magazines and books which are all freely available in the school library and they WRITE it perhaps in a letter to you.

In order to enhance spontaneous learning we include a daily project lesson in which the students use video cameras, photo cameras, instruments, etc. They produce short films, plays, photo diaries, songs and magazines. Our teachers are creative and innovative; they use exciting drama techniques to ensure that all children are actively involved in the lessons.

I think it is pretty amazing how the teachers managed to make the classes interesting. We simulated an entire news broadcast. These exercises improved my English a lot.
